Our 683rd Dad in the Limelight is David Taylor. I want to thank David Taylor for being a part of this series. It has been great getting connected with him and now sharing David Taylor with all of you.
1) Tell me about yourself, (as well as how you are in the limelight for my readers knowledge)
I am a 34 year old first time Dad and I write a parenting based blog with my wife called Taylor Made Blogs. I also contribute to Don’t Believe the Hype and in my spare time (any that is left!) I organize a Hip Hop night which I D.J at and I write a blog for this too using Tumblr. Aside from spending time with my wife and little girl I love music, craft beer, whisky and I am also a keen foodie.
2) Tell me about your family
Our little girl LT is 11 months old so we are kept very busy indeed with entertaining her! As a family we love to go for walks together and we are lucky enough to live near the beach and a wonderful coast line on the South of England in Sussex. We like to keep busy and always have plans to go out and about, seeing friends, family and visiting new places.
We have a food & drink section to our blog and we are currently compiling a series of reviews in search of the top 5 child friendly places to eat and drink in our local town. This is great fun and gives us the excuse to go out and find great places to have lunch together!

3) What has been the largest challenge you have had in being a father?
Learning to constantly adapt to LT’s changes as she is going through each developmental stage has been tough at times. Sometimes it feels like we have cracked it and then teething will start or she will catch a cold or something else will come along to break the routine again.
4) What advice would you give to other fathers?
As soon as you can take a day to look after your child on your own. The first time I looked after LT on my own I really bonded with her and it showed me just how challenging it can be to be one on one with her all day. This gave me a new found appreciation for what my wife does Day in day out and it also built my confidence in looking after LT. I appreciate this only applies to working Dad’s.
5) How have you come to balance parenthood and outside life?
I am fortunate in that I work relatively close to home so I get to spend some time with LT before work and then I don’t miss the bath and bedtime routine either. This gives me a nice work/home balance throughout the week. At weekends we try and share things so we alternate who gets up first thing with LT. I think if you work as a team with your other half as much as possible it makes the balance easier to manage.

6) What have you learned from the fathers that you have interacted with?
To be honest I have had very little interaction with other Dads. The time that I have spent talking to other Dads has been useful sometimes just to hear that someone else is experiencing what you are and you are not alone in the challenges that you may be facing!
7) What else would you share regarding your experiences as a father thus far?
Film family stuff and take loads of photos, write stuff down whether it is blog posts or a in a diary because time goes so quickly and there are thousands of memories that you will want to look back on. Don’t worry about what other parents are doing and the best advice is the advice that you ask for; just trust your instincts and do your own thing.
8) What have been the most memorable experiences that you have had thus far as a parent?
Coming home the night that LT was born and just feeling on top of the world. The first time that I fed LT her bottle was an incredible feeling. Taking her swimming for the first time was very memorable and some of my favourite times so far were on our first family holiday.
