Our 825th Dad in the Limelight is Trevor Crane. I want to thank Trevor Crane for being a part of this series. It has been great getting connected with him and now sharing Trevor Crane with all of you.
1) Tell me about yourself, (as well as how you are in the limelight for my readers knowledge)
My name is Trevor Crane and my daughter and I have started a publishing company, SuperKidsBooks.com, and help kids (and adults who are kids at heart) publish books.
My daughter is a 9-time #1 bestselling author.
2) Tell me about your family
Personally…
Today, I’m married to the most amazing woman in the world. I have the most incredible daughter in the world, now 10 years old. My wife is pregnant with our baby boy, who we expect to be born in about a month.
Professionally…
I’ve been a business growth consultant for over 15 years. What that basically means is people hire me to help them make more money. When I published my first book, my wife and I 10X’d our income within 12 months.
When I realized that, I knew I needed to share the strategy with my family, my friends and my clients.
So I started a publishing company, EpicAuthor.com, to help people do that.
3) What has been the largest challenge you have had in being a father?
Going bankrupt. Being homeless. Losing everything, including my daughter and her mother. Feeling like I was the biggest loser in the world.
4) What advice would you give to other fathers?
Love first. Love unconditionally. And BE THE FUCKING MAN. (If there are areas in your life where you’re “being a pussy,” aka “lying” and making “excuses”… man the fuck up. Get up earlier in the morning. Commit to disciplines that serve you and your family. And become the best man/husband/dad you can be. THIS TAKES WORK EVERY DAY. You don’t get a day off.
5) How have you come to balance parenthood and outside life?
Daily focus. Daily disciplines. No excuses.
Do what you love. Love what you do. And balance is not an issue.
6) What have you learned from the fathers that you have interacted with?
Most? How NOT to do it.
The best? How to become a better man.
7) What else would you share regarding your experiences as a father thus far?
I think all great dads know this.
And they live it.
Being a dad is the best job in the world.
But to do that job, you’ve got to do more.
You’ve got to be the best husband.
And the best professionally.
And be connected intimately with a power bigger than yourself.
We owe it to our kids to become the best we can be.
My goal is to live life without limits. To REPRESENT the idea that we can be, do, have and give anything we commit to. To live my life with passion and to build wealth and happiness for everyone around me.
8) What have been the most memorable experiences that you have had thus far as a parent?
- Having her born into my hands in a hot-tub in my back yard.
- Tossing her 8-10 feet up into the air on a beach in Hawaii, and watching her smile and squeal with glee.
- Here’s a little memory that is one of my favorites spending time with my daughter, and my awesome wire, when my little girl was only 7.
To me, it’s like ONE “big” memory: 2-Weeks in The Bahamas.
We rode on boats and sang and hummed StarWars music together, watching dolphins swim in the wake of our boat. I was with her as schools of fish surrounded her. We rode wave runners, flew in parachutes, petted stingrays, and I watched her hold her breath and swim approximately 15 feet deep in the clearest most beautiful blue water I’ve ever seen.
We stayed on the beach and walked down to the water any time of day we liked. We went snorkeling, held starfish. Walked down a powder-sand beach and ate breakfast at a restaurant Momma-T’s. And we spent 2 days on Paradise Island in the lazy river and waterslides that went through shark-infested waters.
4) Making the movie Kitty Wars with my daughter and her third-grade class of 8-year olds. SuperKidsBooks.com/kittywars
Actually, the BEST was when we played it for all the kids and their parents at a local movie theater.
5) This morning, when I went in to cuddle with my daughter while it was still dark, and she asked me if she had to get up. I told her no, and she cooed her delight. We cuddled and she told me how much she loved me.
