Our 809th Dad in the Limelight is the Dadventurist, Chris Kilpatrick. I want to thank Chris Kilpatrick for being a part of this series. It has been great getting connected with him and now sharing Chris Kilpatrick with all of you.
1) Tell me about yourself, (as well as how you are in the limelight for my readers knowledge)
I’m Chris Kilpatrick, otherwise know as the Dadventurist. During the day I work full time as a wind turbine technician. When not working i’m adventuring with my family. Sometimes to other far flung parts of the world and sometimes just in our back garden. You can find out more about our adventures on my website or on Facebook!
2) Tell me about your family
I live with my beautiful wife Sheena who owns a yoga studio and have two darling daughters Lucy who’s 3 and Matilda who’s 1 and a half.
3) What has been the largest challenge you have had in being a father?
I think the largest challenge I have faced and I guess continue to face every day is trying to balance my work with my time at home with my family. Although Lucy is helping me with this a lot by eager closing my laptop or hiding my phone at any opportunity.

4) What advice would you give to other fathers?
None of us have it figured out, even when it looks like we do. So try everything and find out what make you and your family happy and do more of that, do lots more of that.
5) How have you come to balance parenthood and outside life?
Is this really a thing? There’s a quote by Ray Bradbury that says ‘jump off the cliff and build your wings on the way down’. This is like balancing your life as a parent, only your wings are on fire, and the cliff is on fire and sometimes you are on fire.
6) What have you learned from the fathers that you have interacted with?
I have learned time flies every father known’s it. Yesterday Lucy was falling asleep at her high chair in her spaghetti today she is finishing books with me. No doubt tomorrow she will be driving me to the old folks home. Appreciate every minute you get.

7) What else would you share regarding your experiences as a father thus far?
having kids doesn’t mean giving up your life before. Yes, there are logistical changes but even with two kids we travel, climb, kayak, camp, and do pretty much all the thing we did before. Plus sharing with my kids adds some extra awesomeness.
8) What have been the most memorable experiences that you have had thus far as a parent?
I don’t know if there is one or two experiences that are the most memorable but both my girls blow my mind on a daily basis. Things they accomplish, conversations we have and obstacles they overcome, being a dad is one big amazing memorable experience.
If you have any questions for Chris Kilpatrick, please leave a comment here and I will make sure that he gets them so that he may be able to respond!
